Activity Information

This activity was developed for dermatologists, plastic surgeons, fellows, and residents in dermatology.

Why is this Activity Important?

There is an increasing demand for safe and effective aesthetic, non-surgical facial rejuvenation. All dermal fillers and injectables have the potential for complications. Understanding the anatomy of the face, patient consultation, product selection, injection-site, and injection technique will minimize the risk of most potential complications. Aesthetic practitioners have a responsibility to fully familiarize themselves with the wide range of available products, their risks and benefits, and how that relates to patient expectations and care.

Agenda
  1. Faculty Introductions, Disclosures, and Program Objectives
  2. Anatomy and Assessment of the Face
  3. Patient Selection and Expected Outcomes
  4. Treatment Options for Nonsurgical Facial Rejuvenation
  5. Injection Techniques for Optimal Patient Results
  6. Live Injection Demonstrations
  7. Interactive Question and Answer Session
Learning Objectives

After attending this symposium, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, fellows, and residents in dermatology gained the ability to:

  1. Describe the anatomy of the face in terms of volume loss and structural changes in multiple tissue layers
  2. Identify and differentiate between current options for facial rejuvenation
  3. Describe the specific indications, applications, benefits, limitations, and safety precautions, for currently available products
  4. Define the technique of assessment for volume loss and how to achieve facial balance without over correcting (RF)
  5. Evaluate patient expectations, correct injection technique, and selection of injection site
  6. Individualize patient rejuvenation plans that enhance results, meet patient expectations and minimize potential complications
Educational Method

The symposium consists of lecture presentations, multiple live demonstrations of injection techniques, and question and answer opportunities including the use of real-time, interactive audience response systems.
